So if you need to stay away from the action, how are you supposed to use Blood Ritual? Isn't it a bit dangerous having to touch an ally?

Also, I have everything set up and my health is at 330. That sound about right?

The Blood Rit is for Monks on your team. If you're running an Orders Nec for IWAY, Ranger Spike, etc., then Blood Rit is yet another slot you can use for something else.

With AotL up, I had 189/189 health, so yeah. Sounds about right.

Or you can go with 105 health without Aura of the Lich.

I have no idea why in the world anybody would ever want to use Aura of the Lich over Order of the Vampire. I run 2 supers and a major vigor and i believe I come out to about 370ish. When I sacrifice for OotV I lose 63 health, immediately after that I cast heal part for 59 health. Losing 4 health per order would take forever to die just by itself. You have to figure that once pets, minions, and enemies start dying you have so much energy you can't use it all that using a energy chugging heal party is easy. I don't hide in the back, I stand there casting my spells and healing just like I was a monk. Also you can do a ton of party favors sitting there including BR. Enfeeble, shadow of fear, I sometimes sneak up on the fiends once the action has drifted back and do a heal area on them. People who hide in the back with a orders are hurting their team. I personally like the 6 second OotV on and 1 second off because I've seen the benefit from a rangers standpoint. Order of pain is ok but for 1 second is it really worth my time and sacrifice? I don't think so but that's a personal preference. These guys are talking about cutting their life down so much that they couldn't take 2 hits, thus they have to hide in the back. Try that a few rounds and you'll be up for a new hobby-watching paint dry. By the time you read all 3 pages of this post you will have more information than you need, it's all about figuring out what helps the party the most.

you start in the back Karma. Usually by the time the rangers are done running around, and the puller has used Barrage to pull...the front is a lot closer then you'd like.

Close enought to actually get exp is fairly close. I find I'm often standing next to the monk.

Well I do about the same, I bet you don't drop your health to 100 either. Basically my orders necro is a life stealing monk when you look at it. It was more of a response to the previous page post. I've done the stay way behind the action, so bored I fell asleep.

below 100? Nope. That's asking for one of those Power Spikes to put you in the ground.

Once the Ritualist secondary are added to this mix, the Orders Necro is going to be insanely beefy.

I can't wait to see what we can do

My build is typical to those posted, so I'll just list what I typically do with the skills I use.

Orders nec, as stated stays way far away. I never get close to the battle. I just stay close enough to get soul reaping. You do lose xp this way, but I don't care about that. I can get xp elsewhere.

If the monk doesn't stay in the background with me and follows everyone else around, I run forward between fights and BR the Monk and the MM. Actually, I BR the MM regularly between fights to help them have the energy to keep the army up when there is no soul reaping. During fights I try to BR the monk if they stay close to my vicinity (if they want to fight right at the front, fine, but no BR then). Also I ask them to call their energy.

Also, OoV is important because of the health it gives back to the rangers. This also lightens the load for the monk. I personally run the oov-oop cycle. If my staff's 20% chance of halving my oov regen time kicks in, I can run multiple oov cycles back to back with no downtime. If I see that oov is recycling at normal pace, I cast OoP when the time comes, and then cast OoV over it when its ready. You get a moment of overlap (not like before nerfing where it overlapped fully I guess), and it favors OoV staying up.

I always toss blood renewal in the cycle, but always cast it *after* oov or oop as you don't want to have a pause when one of the orders is not up.

I bring heal other as a monk help, but only use it occasionally if our monk is good. I also bring the res sig and rebirth as the sig gives a fast, full energy/health res on the MM or Monk (and I only use it on them - the rangers can wait unless too many go down), and rebirth is indispensable to saving a disaster.

I use heal area on me if I need it or I screw up my blood renewal part of the cycle. I will also heal area on the minions between battles, but ONLY if the MM agrees (some don't like it and hold to the thought that holy healing hurts minions - another discussion for elsewhere).

I *never* use skills that require me to go in close *except* Blood Ritual.

One other annoyance with being Orders: your drops are way up front near the battle, and if the battle takes a long time, they time out and become pickable by anyone, and of course they pick them up. Occasionally at map changes I've been running from the back to get a gold drop and the timer ends before I get there. Sigh.

The Skills:
Blood Renewal
OoV
OoP
Heal Area
Heal Other
Blood Ritual
Res Sig
Rebirth

I have not actually played orders yet but am getting ready to head into tombs for the 1st time soon. When I look at the skill descriptions for OoP and OotV, considering the fact that they do not stack, it looks to me like OotV is superior since it heals everyone, and that there is no point at all in bringing OoP. Unless I am overlooking something, isn't this correct? Why would you want to ever cast OoP when OotV does the same amount of extra damage, and it heals the attacker?

Seperate question. What is the range you need to be in to get the Soul Reaping points? Is it within your aggro bubble? If not, how far outside? Im just wondering roughly how close I actually need to be to the action.

Order of the Vampires has a 5 second recharge while Order of Pain has a 2 second recharge. By bringing both orders, you can keep up either one constantly.

Thanks dude.

Last question. Since we don't actually do any attacking, do we still earn drops?

Oh I just realized something about your answer. But OoV lasts for 5 seconds, so by the time it wears off, it's ready to go again right?

In my experience, yes if you're close enough to the enemy but since you're an Order Necromancer you wouln't want to be close to the fray.

Yes but it has a 2 second casting time, so you'll have 2 seconds of downtime if you used only Order of the Vampire. If you add a perfect Staff Grip of Enchanting on your staff though, you'll have only 1 second of downtime.

I have the enchant mod. I think im going without OoP and see how it goes. Casting OoP will keep me from casting OotV for 4 seconds which doesnt seem worth it to me because OotV is so much more helpful with healing everyone.
